Tomas Puerta (born October 3, 1992) is a Columbian SuperMoto and road racer. In 2021, Puerta won the Colombian GP 600 Supersport National Championship for the 18th time. Though he came in 2nd place in 2022, that doesn’t seem to have fazed this record-breaking athlete. Born in Medellín, Columbia, Puerta started riding motocross at 4 years old. At 14 years old, he started road racing, winning three National Championships and two Regionals on a Yamaha DT 125. In 2006, Puerta began his career in the USA, competing in Supermoto in the 85cc and 450cc categories. In 2013, Puerta’s passion and focus paid off, winning him the AMA SuperSport National Championship.
After returning to the Latin American circuit, Puerta was crowned the 2016 Latin American Superbike Champion shortly after breaking the track record in Columbia at Autodromo de Tocancipá, riding the BMW S1000RR with a lap time of 1:09:509. The very next year, he broke his own record with a time of 1:09:064. Later in 2017, Puerta got the call to ride the only Honda CBR1000RR superbike in the MotoAmerica series for the Laguna Seca round of the championship. As if that wasn’t a big enough year for Puerta, he also created the school TVS Apache Racing Cup with twelve racers between 9 and 15 years of age. In 2018, he broke a third lap record, this time at Chile’s Circuito Interlomas de Temuco, with a lap time of 1:10:33.
